Forest Service to Conduct Controlled Burn for the Marshall Tract and Rail Hollow Area in Bath County Today
Location: These burns will take place on the Marshall Tract and Rail Hollow Area located along the Cowpasture River, approximately two miles south of Williamsville.
Date and Time: These controlled burns will be ignited March 19, 2019. Ignitions should be concluded before the end of the day. The Marshall Tract Burn is 69 acres and the Rail Hollow Burn is 126 acres. Firefighters will monitor the area over the next several days.
Objective: The controlled burn will create important wildlife habitat.
Additional Information: Smoke may be visible along sections of routes 678 and 627 for the duration of the burn. Firefighter and public safety is our number one priority.
