California Man Arrested After Making $250K From Fake Donor Accounts

An 80-year-old California man was charged with wire fraud and identity theft on Thursday after setting up fake donor accounts for some of the 2020 presidential hopefuls.

According to prosecutors, John Pierre Dupont, a resident of Blythe, pocketed about $250,000 in contributions that donors thought they were sending to support Sen. Bernie Sanders and Beto O'Rourke. He also made a few extra bucks from people that were trying to donate to Andrew Gillum when he was campaigning to be governor of Florida.

Dupont appeared in federal court in Arizona, and later posted his $100,000 bail. It is still unknown if he as an attorney.

So, where will all of the money go? No one knows yet. But if they need to find someone to take good care of it... You know where to find me!

Check out all of the details on the New York Post.
