Eat Too Much Yesterday? Study Finds You'll Likely Gain 6 Pounds This Season

Hopefully you enjoyed Thanksgiving yesterday and spent all day stuffing your face with food, because a new study found that only one in eight people will make it to 2019 without gaining weight after Thanksgiving...

The study, which was commissioned by Herbalife Nutrition, surveyed 2,000 adults and found that 45 percent of them planned on 'pausing' their diets until the end of the year. However, there is some bad news for those not planning on holding off from the diet, as the study also found that the average American will put on SIX extra pounds this holiday season. Time to put on the sweatpants.

“Healthy snacking is a useful tool in combating overindulgence. Consuming protein-rich snacks before heading out to a holiday feast can help make you feel full, so that you don’t over indulge,” said Dr. John Agwunobi, co-president and chief health and nutrition officer at Herbalife Nutrition.

The study found that only 12 percent of Americans will survive the holiday season without adding on any extra pounds. May the odds be in your favor.

“For best results, stick to a balanced diet that isn’t overly restrictive and combine it with consistent exercise to help achieve your healthy resolutions," Agwunobi added. "You can start this holiday season simply by parking at the farthest spot from the store or mall entrance, helping you rack up extra calorie burning steps.”
