A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent is in custody with no bond after prosecutors requested he remain detained. Court documents in Hamilton County identify the suspect as 47-year-old Samuel Saxon of Cincinnati, who is accused of assaulting a woman he lives with.
Cincinnati police arrested Saxon over the weekend, charging him with felonious assault, strangulation, and domestic violence. He was booked into the county jail early Saturday morning.
According to an affidavit, officers observed bruising on the victim’s neck, and witnesses reported seeing Saxon place her in a chokehold during an incident inside the hallway of their Eden Avenue apartment building, located near the University of Cincinnati.
During Monday’s initial hearing, authorities noted that police had responded to 22 calls at the same residence within the past 18 months. Although the court acknowledged Saxon’s federal employment, his job details were not discussed publicly.
Judge Samantha Silverstein set bond amounts for the strangulation and domestic violence charges but sided with prosecutors in keeping Saxon held without bond on the felonious assault charge. His next court appearance is scheduled for Thursday at 9 a.m.
Saxon’s attorney did not comment following the hearing, and ICE has not released information regarding his employment status.
