Harrisonburg’s tech scene is getting a major boost! Governor Glenn Youngkin recently announced that Caf2Code, a national software development and IT consulting firm, will invest $135,000 to grow its operations in the city — an expansion expected to create 20 new jobs.
CEO Benjamin Breeden emphasized that the move isn’t just about company growth — it’s about investing in local talent and building the community’s future in technology. “We’re bringing in money from outside clients and spending it here,” said Breeden. “That means more jobs, specialized skill sets, and opportunity right here in Harrisonburg.”
City leaders are welcoming the news as a sign of progress. Brian Shull, executive director of economic development, said this is an important milestone for the local tech sector. With a workforce of over 25,000, Harrisonburg is in a strong position to support continued growth. “Technology is a key area of focus for us,” Shull noted. “Announcements like this show that Harrisonburg is becoming a real player in the tech world — and that’s great for attracting future investment.”
Breeden, a graduate of Luray High School and James Madison University, said growing his company in the Valley holds personal significance. “This is where I’m from,” he said. “Investing in the tech industry here feels right — not just for our company, but for the region.”
He also shared his appreciation for the support from city officials and organizations like the Virginia Economic Development Program and Harrisonburg’s Office of Economic Development, calling their involvement a key part of the company’s success.
As Caf2Code scales up, both the company and city leaders say they’re looking forward to what’s next — and agree that this is just the beginning for Harrisonburg’s growing tech industry.
