Harrisonburg Public Works has shared the schedule for its 2024 annual leaf collection service, which will begin on November 12 and continue until mid-December, depending on weather conditions.
Residents are asked to rake their leaves to the curb (without extending them more than 10 feet into the yard) by Monday of their designated collection week. Leaves should not be placed in the street, and each street will only be serviced once per week.
Collection dates are as follows:
West Side of Main Street & Forest Hills:
- November 12 to November 15
- November 25 to November 27 (excluding holidays)
- December 2 to December 6
East Side of Main Street & Fairway Drive:
- November 18 to November 22
- November 25 to November 27 (excluding holidays)
- December 9 to December 13
If residents need to dispose of leaves outside of these scheduled times, they can use biodegradable bags for collection on the Wednesday Bulk Trash Day or drop off leaves at the Recycling Convenience Center. Public Works also encourages residents to mulch leaves back into their lawns, which helps improve soil quality and reduces waste.
