Gunman With 'Anger Management Issues' Kills Five Neighbors In Chicago: Cops

A 66-year-old Chicago man was taken into custody after allegedly killing five of his neighbors. Police say that Krysztof Marek stormed into his neighbor's apartment with a handgun and shot four people while they were eating dinner. He then went next door and fatally shot another person.

Marek lived in the building for 15 years and had multiple run-ins with his neighbors. Officials say he knew his victims and had a history of anger management issues, but they do not know the exact reason why he decided to go on a killing spree.

"We don't know what set him off tonight," Chicago police Deputy Superintendent Anthony Riccio said. "Most of the occupants inside the building have had problems with him in the past, but certainly nothing of this magnitude."

The Cook County medical examiner's office identified two of the victims as Jolanta Topolska, 53, and Tsvetanka Kostadinova, who was in her mid-30s. Relatives identified the third victim as David Hanik, 65. The other two victims were a 65-year-old woman and a man who was in his mid-40s.

When officers arrived at the apartment building, they found Marek outside with his arms in the air. He told them that his gun was inside his apartment on a coffee table, and he was taken into custody. Investigators say that Marek is refusing to cooperate or answer their questions. He is facing five charges of murder
