Thanksgiving Gas Prices Hit 5-Year Low as All 50 States See Declines

Gas prices dipped sharply over the Thanksgiving holiday, reaching their lowest Turkey Day average in five years at $2.97 per gallon. According to GasBuddy’s Patrick De Haan, every state saw prices trend downward heading into the holiday weekend, with Ohio experiencing the steepest drop — a 22-cent decrease.

By Friday morning, the national average slipped again to $2.96 per gallon, marking the cheapest price point since early May 2021.

In the Shenandoah Valley, travelers are seeing even lower numbers. As of today, the Harrisonburg area’s lowest posted price is $2.49 per gallon, offering local drivers one of the best deals in the region.
