Downtown Charlottesville took on a cheerful holiday vibe this weekend as the City Market embraced its seasonal transformation. The weekly market shifted into full festive mode, offering shoppers a mix of handmade goods, holiday décor, specialty treats, and unique gifts crafted for the winter season.

More than 100 local makers set up shop, filling the market with vibrant booths, artisan products, and themed foods. Live music, hot beverages, and steady crowds helped create a warm, inviting atmosphere for families starting their holiday shopping.

City Market Manager Justin McKenzie said the post-Thanksgiving switch happens every year to spotlight holiday-focused craftsmanship and give vendors space to showcase their seasonal creations.

“The City Market becomes the Holiday Market right after Thanksgiving, and we highlight even more handmade items — everything from décor and woodworking to textiles,” McKenzie explained.

Charlottesville’s Holiday Market will run each Saturday through December 20, featuring a rotating lineup of artisans and makers. Shoppers can find full details and market guidelines on the City’s information page.
