Harrisonburg City Council Passes 2025-2026 Budget

At last night’s meeting (May 27), the Harrisonburg City Council officially approved the city’s budget for the 2025-2026 fiscal year. The total amended revenue budget comes to $416.4 million.

The approved budget includes funding for school nutrition programs, sanitation services, and the Community Development Block Grant, which had its action plan approved as well.

Vice Mayor Dany Fleming noted that while the schools are receiving less state funding than expected, the budget still manages to stay balanced. Council members also voted to set the real estate tax rate for the year at $1.01 per $100 of assessed property value.
