Local Man's Trial Set for Child Abuse After Child Tests Positive for Meth

Staunton, Va. Timothy Postma will face child abuse charges after a grand jury certified his case. On June 11, Child Protective Services notified Staunton Police after a 3-year-old in Postma’s home tested positive for methamphetamine.

This charge, a class 6 felony, carries potential penalties of up to five years in jail and a $2,500 fine. Postma's pre-trial hearing is scheduled for Feb. 11, 2025, and his jury trial for March 4, 2025.

Postma’s criminal record includes previous drug possession and assault and battery charges in Augusta County, which are unrelated to this current child abuse case.
