The Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources confirmed that two brothers died while canoeing on Government Pond in Page County Saturday around 2 p.m.
According to DWR, a 19 and 21 year old and their brother were canoeing on Government Pond in Page County. As they attempted to change directions, conditions were very windy and their canoe overturned. One brother was able to swim safely back to shore to call for help.
The bodies of the two missing men were recovered after a few hours by the DWR, along with the Page County Sheriff’s Office, Page County Fire and Rescue and the the Shenandoah Volunteer Fire Company Dive Team
